Car Rider Info
Procedures for Car Riders
Due to the fact that we share our driveway entrance and exit with North Corbin Junior High, it is important that all vehicles entering to drop off or pick up students from the elementary school follow these procedures.
--Please enter through the most northern Junior High driveway -- not the middle driveway. Form a single line only. Cars may be ticketed if they are sitting on the highway waiting to get in line, so the aforementioned driveway must be used to accommodate all vehicles.
--Please exit the campus using the NCE driveway.
--Morning: NCE opens the doors for students at 7:45 a.m. Please do not enter the car line before 7:30 a.m. to avoid interference with NCJH carpool line.
--Students may not exit vehicles until duty teachers are present and ready to begin receiving students.
--Please have students completely ready to exit your car when the line begins – booksacks in hand and ready, with face coverings on, seatbelts unbuckled. Students should be on the passenger side of the vehicle and should exit from that side. We do not allow students to exit from the driver’s side and walk around the car.
--Temperature Check: A staff member will check your child's temperature upon arrival and before they exit your vehicle. Students with a temperature below 100.4 will exit the vehicle and proceed to their classroom. If your child has a temperature reading of 100.4 or above you will move to a parking spot to be rechecked within 10 minutes.
--Afternoon: No vehicles will be permitted to form a line at the elementary school prior to 3:00 p.m. If you enter before 3:00 p.m., you will be asked to exit and begin lining up at 3:00 p.m. DO NOT park under the covered canopy prior to duty teachers instructing you to pull forward at dismissal time. The line should form just past the middle drive to keep the area clear in case of an emergency.
--Please do not park and walk to the front to pick up your child. Students will not be permitted to leave with a walk-up parent. If you need to check your child out early, you must do so by 2:30 p.m. Again, the safety of students will remain our primary concern, and duty teachers cannot monitor moving vehicles and students walking across the parking lot at the same time.
--Drivers should never exit their vehicle while in the car rider line. If your child needs assistance buckling up before leaving campus once they are in the vehicle, please pull out of the line and into an available parking space, so you won’t stop, slow down, or hinder the line from moving.
--Hangtags will be issued to all car riders in the near future. In the meantime, please place a sign in your front window, visible to duty teachers with your child's name in bold lettering. Hangtags will be assigned a number and students should learn their numbers to assist duty teachers and to move the line along quickly.
--Please be patient and courteous to our duty teachers and other drivers in line. Most of our car riders are under the age of six. We will do our best to move the line as quickly as possible, but the safety of our students will be our first priority. Do not attempt to pass around cars waiting in line.
-- Please remember as you enter and exit our campus at any time to drive slowly and cautiously. Let's keep NCE safe for our students.
